Lloyd Riddick

December 4, 1929 — October 5, 2017

Lloyd Vernon Riddick was born December 4, 1929 was blessed with 87 full years of life.  Vernon as he was known to family and friends, went home to be with th Lord on Sunday, October 15 2017.  Vernon was the native of Gatesville and came into this world as one of ten children that were had by the late Oscar and Gladys Riddick.  Though Vernon was a member of Lebanon Grove Baptist Church, he'll be laid to rest beside his dear and caring wife of 63 years at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.  Vernon retired from over 20 years of proud honorable work at the Newport News Shipyard.  When not working to provide for his family Vernon enjoyed Deer Hunting and would often have a freezer full of Venison due to his marksmanship.  Vernon born of the Great Depression experienced lean times during the first decade of his life. He learned the importance of family looking out for one another, having an earnest work effort, and saving for rainy days.  He leaves to cherish his memory a Sister Victoria Harrison of Winton, NC a Brother George"Lil Tom Riddick of Gates,NC , two sister-in-laws Lorraine and Sue Riddick both of Gates, NC, two brother-in-laws Jack Henry Bond of Waterbury CT and Leroy "Leaky" Parker of Philadelphia,PA.  and his one Daughter Dianne "Cherry" Riddick of Fayetteville NC (2)  Grandchildren Anthony & Courtney LiKiaha Norman who he lovingly call "Kitha:, (3) Great Grand Children A'yanna, Gabriel and D'Yani Norman, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
