Jerry Balem Farmer departed this life on December 20. 2019. Jerry was the youngest of 11 children born to the late Arthur Farmer Sr. and Josephine Hargrove Farmer on April 6, 1949 in Fayetteville, N.C,

At an early age, Jerry joined New Bethel AME Zion Church and remained a member until his death. He was educated in the Cumberland County Schools and attended Anne Chestnutt High School. Early in his adult life, Jerry moved to New York to work with one of his oldest brothers, Garland, in his carpentry business.  After spending many years in New York, he returned to North Carolina where he continued to assist with carpentry work. Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, working around the yard and in the garden.

Jerry embraced life to the fullest and brought fun and laughter wherever he went. Although Jerry had health challenges in life, he loved to talk on the and phone and would frequently call his daughter, nieces and nephews just to check on them. He always liked an impromptu visit from family and friends. He was a kind, funny man and will be greatly missed.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Cassandra Williams Clifton (Aparicio), grandson, Cameron J. Clifton, and granddaughter, Carrington J. Clifton of Raleigh, NC. one sister, Mary Elizabeth Montgomery of Durham, NC, two brothers,Thomas H. Farmer (Ellen) and Roscoe A. Farmer of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
