Janice
Johnson
May 27, 1965 — Apr 10, 2026
Fayetteville
Janice Johnson, born on May 27, 1965, entered eternal rest on April 10, 2026,
surrounded by the love of her family. A native of New York City, Janice was the
beloved daughter of the late Sandra Johnson and Junior Stewart (biological), and
was lovingly raised by William Johnson Sr.After the passing of her mother, Janice
spent the remainder of her life with her big sister Rosemarie. The two shared a
bond closer than any other—one built on protection, laughter, and a deep sisterly
love that carried them through life. Although Janice held a special closeness with
Rosemarie, she loved and adored all her siblings with her whole heart.
Janice was educated in the New York City Public Schools, later attending middle
school in Peekskill, New York. Throughout her life, she worked in various retail
positions, where her kindness, warmth, and natural ability to connect with people
made her unforgettable to coworkers and customers alike.
A woman of deep faith, Janice was a devoted Christian and a member of Canaan
Baptist Church in New York City. Her heart was truly her ministry, she had a heart
of gold, a forgiving spirit, and a way of remembering every birthday and every
small detail that made others feel seen and loved. She adored children, especially
her many nieces and nephews, who were drawn to her gentle presence and playful
spirit.
Janice had a unique love for astronomy, often finding peace and wonder in the
zodiac signs. She also cherished music—especially Michael Jackson and Jaheim—
and her joy for life was reflected in the songs she loved.
She leaves behind her cherished siblings: Nailah Ali (Asim), Laureen Johnson
(Musa), Linda Johnson (Dumar), Rosemarie Johnson (Shabazz), and William
Johnson (Twana); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family,
and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Janice shared a special bond with James Dawson, and she carried lifelong affection
for her childhood sweetheart, Warren Martin. She was deeply loved by her "big
brother" Frankie Dolium, and held dear friendships with Kim White, Diane Phifer,
and Betty Hayward who remained close to her heart throughout her life.
Janice's life was defined by love—quiet, steady, unconditional love. She gave it
freely, forgave easily, and touched every life she encountered. Though she has
departed from this world, her light continues in the hearts of all who knew her.
